Paul van Elk
Paul has studied Anthropology and later at the Academy of Art Direction in Amsterdam. In his digital art Paul is strongly moved by the trend how we all got unconsciously addicted to the use of the mobile phones.
Paradoxically, we want to enlarge our worlds by being continuously connected to each other and at the same time we become lonelier and more alienated from the real world. this paradox moved the creation of his new series called: Homo Mobilis (2017-2018).
Homo Mobilis depicts our tragic addiction to mobile phones by using a minimalistic, playful style. His work is a sweet reminder that we are all ‘victims’ of the new technologies and that we should not forget the essence of real human interaction.
Next to presenting his works in our gallery, the art moved to Primary Schools for eduction purposes.
Some pieces from the series of the Homo Mobilis are currently also exhibited at TQ Tech Hub (Singel 542) in the heart of Amsterdam.
